Ji Sun Yang (Seoul, South Korea) is a composer. She studied composition at Sook-Myung Women’s University in Seoul (BA) and in 2003, she moved to the Netherlands, continuing her studies at the Hague Royal Conservatory (BA/MA). She studied with Sue-Yeon Hong, Gilius van Bergeijk and Martijn Padding. She received a PhD degree at University of York, U.K., supervised by Dr. Thomas Simaku.
Her music was invited to the festivals such as Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam, NL in 2007 / 2008 / 2010, ISCM in Sydney, Belgium 2010 / 2012, Dag in the branding in the Hague in 2008 and Nederlandse Muziekdagen in 2009. She received the commission works by ensembles as Percussion Group the Hague, Spectra Ensemble, Ensemble Klang, Trio Agartha and Doelen String Quartet. Also, her music was performed by Asko Ensemble, TIMF ensemble, Ensemble besides, Trio La Mer, ACL-Korea international music concert, London Sinfonietta with Sound and Music and Dark Invention.Ji Sun attended the summer course ‘Ostrava Days 2007’ in Czech and in 2008 she attended the ‘Apeldoorn Young Composers Meeting’ in NL with ‘Orkest Ereprijs’. She participated to U.S. for ‘Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival in 2008’ in Massachutts. The work for percussion quartet has been awarded third prize in the composition competition: ‘percussive arts society in Italy. 2009’. She traveled to Portugal and Finland for artists’ residency. Currently, she is being a lecturer in Seoul.
작곡가 양지선은 숙명여자대학교 작곡과를 졸업한 후, 네덜란드 헤이그 왕립음악원에서 학사(BA) 및 석사(MA)를 졸업하였다. 2015년 영국 요크대학교에서 박사(Ph.D)를 취득했다. 이태리 Percussive Society Competition in Italy 작곡부문에서 3위를 수상하였고, 네덜란드 Apeldoorn Young Composers’ Meeting, 미국 Bang on a Can, 체코 Ostrava Days 와 같은 페스티벌에 초청되어 연주발표하였다.
ISCM 2010/2012, Gaudeamus Music Week 2007/2008/2010, Dag in de Branding, Nederlandse Muziek Dagen, Asia Week in NL과 같은 음악제에 작품이 선정되어 발표되었다. 또한, 2014년 Sound and Music 이 주최하고, London Sinfonietta가 연주한 작품이 NMC 디지털 싱글로 발매되었으며, Percussion Group the Hague, Spectra Ensemble, Ensemble Klang, Trio Agartha, Dark Invention and Doelen String Quartet과 같은 앙상블에게 위촉을 받았으며, Asko Ensemble, TIMF ensemble, Ensemble besides, Trio La Mer의 초청으로 유럽, 미국, 호주, 유럽 등지에서 작품이 연주되었다.
2007년 체코 Ostrava Days 여름 페스티발에 참여하였고, 2008년 Apeldoorn YoungComposers Meeting에 참여하여 Orkest Ereprijs를 위해 작곡하였으며, 2008년 여름 Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival에 참여하였다. 2017년, 2018년 여름 포르투칼 Atalia Artsist Residency에 참여하였으며, 2019년 여름 핀란드 크리스틴스타드 예술가 레지던스에 참여하였다.
2017년 Trinity Laban Conservatoire와 York St.Johns University의 초청으로 작곡과 특강세미나를 하였다. 현재 아르케 앙상블의 음악감독이자 ISCM, 창악회와 ACL 회원으로 활동 중이며, 숙명여자대학교와 한양대학교에 출강하고 있다.
